Iggy and The Stooges on the Yahoo! Stage

Stooges on Yahoo! Stooges on Yahoo!

When was the last time you saw a 59 year old man dive off a stage into the crowd? And I’m too old to ride a skateboard to work? Come on.

Fun House is my second favorite album of all time, I had my hopes set pretty high after having seen them at Coachella a couple years back and being surprised how good it was, and I was still blown away seeing this show live. From the first scream on T.V. Eye I was losing my mind. Saw the sax on stage and was wondering if they’d actually do L.A. Blues. Can’t believe they pulled that shit off so true to form after all these years.

Watch the whole show and see a photo of Ron Ashton painting a tug boat here.

Also check out Iggy on NPR talking about the show, among other things.

Finally, if you have any doubts about Iggy being the real deal, read (or re-read) Please Kill Me, one of my favorite books of all time.

Wow, Ian. Thanks for posting this! I was lucky to see the STOOGES play their Detroit homecoming a few summers ago, with the VON BONDIES and SONIC YOUTH, of all openers. It was nuts.

While I love[d] seeing them live – I still haven’t grown to like the new album. I had super high hopes though, with Albini doing the production work and all. Ah well. I guess was was crazier is they were hanging around Ann Arbor, while rehearsing for recording it. Watt had a blog all about it. Crazy to read and think that I might have bumped into them at the Chinese food place across town that week. Heh.

But. As you said—and quite well—when was the last time you saw a 59-year-old stage dive, and still look good [and natural] doing it? I daresay not many.

    They still have it.
    Thanks again!

Very cool! It looks like Mike Watt is playing bass. Another punk rock legend!
