Bat For Lashes – What’s A Girl To Do

In case you didn’t believe me the other times I posted saying Bat For Lashes was awesome, this should convince beyond doubt:

While I’m talking about excellent albums from 2007 by talented female artists, I’ll drop in a plug for the Joan As Policewoman album “Real Life”. Joan has been a member of both Rufus Wainwright and Antony’s Johnsons, and rumor has it was involved romantically with Jeff Buckley at the time of his death.

Check out these two, my favorite songs from the record:

I can’t get The Ride out of my head. Thanks to Lucy O from WMG Europe for turning me on to this record. Get it from iTunes or Amazon.

Yes, this is not exactly an ideal consumer experience either – the demise of DRM and geo-strangling really can’t come fast enough. I must get some Bat for Lashes mp3s from somewhere and see how good she really is … but where?

Decided to look around after today’s (10OCT) anti-DRM entry and what did I find? “The content you are trying to view is only available in certain areas”. Strange, because it’s available at YouTube (n1wnOUH2jk8), so that’s one more set of eyes that DRM lost for Yahoo. The premise that convenience wins is correct. Even Heinz can tell you that: their bottle re-designs have increased sales. In a medium where all barriers are artificial and easily ovecome, it’s pointless to keep trying to erect more, but that’s exactly what every company involved in DRM is doing. Now I’m off to listen to more BfL.
