If you, like me, loved the TV On The Radio EP but were disappointed by the LPs, I have something for you.
I bought this record on Mojo’s recommendation last fall, but didn’t spend enough time with it early on. Bored on a plane I started listening again a couple weeks ago and now I can’t stop. It’s gorgeous and haunting. I feel like I’m only about 10% in to actually understanding and enjoying it. A slow burn. Talking Heads, The Slits, TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Naw. Too unique to even need the comparisons. Mellowtron and organ over never-boring rhythms with out-there-yet-soulful vocals? Yes. So perfect.
